Resolution of identified Legionella issues
Reduction in manual monitoring time
Reduction in water testing costs
The Challenge
Effective Legionella management relies on understanding the water systems being controlled and having reliable information about how those systems perform during everyday operation.
At The Grove Residential Home, historic infrastructure modifications and outdated documentation had created discrepancies between existing schematics and the live water systems.
Changes to pipework, equipment and outlets had not always been reflected in the available records, reducing visibility of the infrastructure and creating uncertainty around monitoring locations, potential stagnation risks and the suitability of existing control measures.
Alongside improving system documentation, there was an opportunity to strengthen visibility of water temperatures beyond periodic manual checks.
The challenge was to bring together accurate system information, appropriate control measures and continuous monitoring to create a more reliable foundation for long-term Legionella management.
Existing schematics did not fully represent the live water infrastructure, creating gaps in understanding of the system configuration.
Outdated System Documentation
Historic modifications to pipework, equipment and outlets had introduced discrepancies between physical assets and existing records.
Undocumented Infrastructure Changes
Incomplete system information created the possibility of unidentified stagnation areas, unsuitable monitoring locations and other water hygiene risks.
Potentially Overlooked Risks
The Solution
LCS delivered an integrated water safety approach combining detailed physical system verification, schematic correction, specialist Legionella consultancy and Legionella Watch remote monitoring.
The process began with comprehensive inspections of the hot and cold water systems, identifying assets, tracing distribution routes and comparing the physical infrastructure against existing documentation.
Where discrepancies were identified, schematic information was corrected to reflect the actual water-system configuration, including undocumented components, pipework routes and outlet arrangements.
This improved understanding also supported the review of monitoring locations and potential areas of stagnation, helping ensure that Legionella control measures were aligned with the live infrastructure.
Legionella Watch remote monitoring provided an additional layer of operational visibility, continuously collecting temperature readings from monitored locations and making that information available for review.
By combining verified system information with ongoing temperature evidence, LCS established a more informed approach to identifying exceptions, understanding water-system behaviour and supporting appropriate follow-up actions.

Results &
Impact
The combined programme of system inspection, schematic correction and Legionella Watch remote monitoring strengthened The Grove Residential Home's approach to managing water safety.
Detailed inspections identified previously undocumented assets, incomplete distribution information and areas where monitoring arrangements required reassessment.
Corrected schematics provided a more accurate representation of the live water infrastructure, supporting improved alignment between system documentation, monitoring locations and operational control measures.
Legionella Watch added continuous temperature visibility at monitored locations, providing additional evidence to support the identification of excursions, recurring patterns and potential areas requiring further investigation.
“Legionella Watch gives us greater confidence in our water safety, helping us identify potential risks early and maintain a proactive approach to compliance.”

What's Next
Effective Legionella management requires more than completing scheduled checks. It depends on understanding the infrastructure, identifying potential risks and having reliable evidence of water-system conditions.
The result is a more proactive, evidence-led approach that supports traditional water hygiene controls rather than replacing them.
For The Grove Residential Home, this integrated approach supports more informed Legionella management while helping maintain a safer environment for residents, staff and visitors.
